The Times Higher Education Subject Rankings 2016-2017 will be launched on 28 September and include tables for computer science, and business and economics for the first time.
The top 100 lists of the best universities in the world for eight subject areas will be published at 6pm (BST) on 28 September, as the THE World Academic Summit takes place at the University of California, Berkeley.
The subject areas are: arts and humanities; business and economics; clinical, pre-clinical and health; computer science; engineering and technology; life sciences; physical sciences; and social sciences.
The tables are based on the same 13 performance indicators as the flagship THE World University Rankings and judge research-intensive universities across all of their core missions – teaching, research, knowledge transfer and international outlook.
However, the weightings of the measures have been recalibrated for each subject area, to suit the individual fields.
