Inheriting a century-old outstanding understanding of science, technology, and culture, YTU has been a keen pioneer of academic research, technology, and the arts, with the quality of being the 3^rd oldest university in Turkey with its roots dating back to 1911.

Today, YTU has eleven Faculties most of which are related to engineering, two Graduate Schools, three Vocational Schools, one School of Foreign Languages and more than 34,000 students, offering a range of programs at the undergraduate and graduate levels, ranging from the science and engineering disciplines to arts and humanities. It also provides opportunities for its qualified students and academicians to participate in exchange programs.

In line with the 21^st century entrepreneur university model while making contributions to Research and Development activities in our country, YTU commenced operations in certain technological development zones and founded Yildiz Technopark in 2003.

Yildiz Technopark hosts more than 8500 R&D staff working at more than 400 Research and Development companies in many sectors such as software, information and communication technologies, electronics, the pharmaceutical industry, the machine and equipment industry, chemistry, the aviation industry, the defense industry, civil work, and the food industry.

In addition to the university’s academic standing, the students at YTU enjoy a lively social environment.

Students take part in various club activities ranging from volunteer projects to extracurricular entertainment and educational events, as well as a broad variety of cultural and artistic occasions give students the opportunity to lead an active academic life.
