Established in 2007, the University of Suffolk began as University Campus Suffolk (UCS), and was awarded university status in 2016.
The University of Suffolk is all about transformation – transforming individuals, communities and beyond.
The University of Suffolk main campus is based on the Ipswich Waterfront, with their courses also being delivered at their partner colleges; Ipswich’s Suffolk New College and East Coast College based in Lowestoft and Great Yarmouth, as well as across a number of other national and international partnerships.
The University of Suffolk offers a range of traditional postgraduate and undergraduate courses, and is attended by nearly 15,000 students. The courses are spread across three academic Schools; each school has its own expertise and ethos which is reflected in its portfolio of courses.
The University is proud to be home to a vibrant and dynamic research community with a range of specialist academic expertise. The current research priorities focus on the Universities areas of distinctiveness; Health and Wellbeing, Sustainability, Digital Futures, Crime and Social Justice, Culture and Heritage, Excellence in Education.
Since 2020, the campus has new developments including;
The Hold, a purpose-built heritage research centre and houses Suffolk’s exceptional masterpieces dating back to 1119, in partnership with Suffolk County Council
The DigiTech Centre, in collaboration with BT, is a hub for digital research and training.
Health and Wellbeing Building, dedicated space for the promotion of integrated care among the student body, practice partners and the wider community.
