关于 University of Novi Sad
Founded in 1960, the University of Novi Sad is the second largest state university in Serbia. Its origins date back to 1740. It also encapsulates what was once a school for the education of Serbian teachers which was founded in Sombor in 1778 and another teachers college founded in Szentendre in 1812.
It is home to over 40,000 undergraduate students and over 6,000 master's and postgraduate students. It has 14 faculties which are spread throughout the four major cities of the province of Vojvodina: Novi Sad, Subotica, Zrenhanin and Sombor. These include: the academy of arts; the faculty of medicine; the faculty of technical sciences; the faculty of agriculture; the faculty of law; the faculty of sciences; the faculty of technology; the faculty of philosophy; the faculty of sport and physical education; the faculty of civil engineering; the faculty of economics; the faculty of education; the Mihajlo Pupin Technical Faculty and the teacher training faculty (which provides all education in Hungarian).
It also has three institutes: the Institute of Lowland Forestry and Environment, the Institute of Food Technology and the BioSense Institute, which works at the cross section of ICT and agriculture.
As well as a series of modern libraries, students and staff at the University of Novi Sad have access to the Matica Srpska Library, which was founded in 1826, making it the oldest Serbian scientific and cultural institution and is home to over three million publications. It also boasts a series of high-spec laboratories, student centres and student accommodation on campus.
Notable alumni include a series of poets, novelists, linguists, politicians and ambassadors, including Serbian-Canadian mathematician and computer scientist Ivan Stojmenovic and Serbian poet and novelist Dragomir Dujmov.
