Set up in 1893, the University of Montana-Western is a public college in Dillon, Montana, US. It also prides its unique programme Experience One, which requires students to only take one class at a time, for about three weeks.
Subjects you can study at UMW are biology, business and technology, education, English, environmental sciences, equine studies, fine arts, history, philosophy and social science and mathematics. More specifically, you can choose between bachelor’s degrees in anthropology and sociology, global politics, interdisciplinary social science, modern history and secondary education, psychology, visual arts, environmental interpretation, health and human performance, natural horsemanship, coaching, early childhood education, Earth science and others.
You can join varsity sports such as football, basketball, volleyball, rodeo, cross-country and cheerleading, or student clubs focused on art, biology, business, draft horse driving, drama, education, industrial technology, vet science, ski and snowboarding, music, psychology, wrestling, rodeo, young farmers and ranchers, as well as sororities and fraternities. Students can also run, DJ and produce radio programmes for the university’s KDWG radio station with a license to serve Dillon.
Remarkable alumni include politician Amanda Curtis, former member of the Montana House of Representatives, football coaches Mick Delaney Sonny Lubick, rodeo clown Flint Rasmussen, educator and politician Angela McLean, member of the Montana Senate Carol Williams.
