关于 Tokiwa University
Tokiwa University is a private university in the city of Mito in Ibaraki prefecture, Japan. Tokiwa’s roots can be traced back to 1909, when the founder opened a private kimono-making workshop.
The university was founded in 1983 with the college of human science.
The college of applied international studies and the college of community development opened in 1996 and 2000, respectively, before a complete restructuring in 2008.
In 1989, the graduate school was established with a master's programme in human science, followed by a doctoral programme in human science in 1993. A master's in community development and a master's in victimology soon followed.
Today, there are about 3,000 students across the three colleges of Tokiwa University and Tokiwa Junior College.
In undergraduate studies, the faculty of human science includes the departments of psychology, education, contemporary social studies, communication, and health and nutrition.
The faculty of management and administration includes the departments of management, law and administration and policy management. There is also a faculty of nursing.
Since 2004, the university has had an active international student exchange programme with the Japanese Department at California State University, Northridge.
Students can stay in the university dormitory, Tokiwa International Hall, during the autumn term from September to January. Less than a five-minute walk to the campus, each air-conditioned suite is made up of three bedrooms, a shared living room and a shared bathroom. There is also a large kitchen, a common room and access to a tennis court and for all students staying in the suites.
