关于 Seisa Dohto University
Seisa Dohto University was founded as Dohto University in Monbetsu City in Hokkaido, the northernmost of Japan’s main islands. It was established in 1978.
The university was renamed as as Seisa Dohto University in 2017 followed its connection with the SEISA Group, which was founded in 1972 with the motto "Live Together, Grow Together".
The university has run a distance-learning university with a single faculty in life network science since 2004.
The university is a relatively small one, with less than 1,000 students which aims to promote closeness between staff and students. Its underlying philosophy is SEISA’s concept of Kyosei Rikai Kyoiku, or "emphatic understanding education".
There are three faculties – social welfare, fine arts (which incorporates departments of design, architecture and management) and a school of Japanese studies for foreign students.
The campus is well equipped with many facilities including a gymnasium, sports training centre, multimedia centre, language laboratory, a plastic arts and drawing room, a student cafeteria, a convenience store, an auditorium, library, a student hall, a sculpture room, wood working crafting room, pottery crafting room and architectual experiment practicum room.
The university does not have its own dormitories, however, the Student Affairs Office and Center for International Relations produces a list of accommodation around the city that students can stay in. There are ample of options for apartments, student unions and lodgings with meal services and many are chosen with consideration of suitable commuting conveniences, costs and living environment for each student.
There is a focus on sports, business and regional development reflected in majors in sports management, business creation and community design.
