Statement, vision, & mission:

Located on the beautiful coast of the Persian Gulf in south of Iran and as the only state university in the province of Bushehr, Persian Gulf University’s vision is to achieve an outstanding reputation in science and technology, to be innovative, entrepreneurial, and active in the international academic community, in the lead in energy and marine studies and expert authority in the field of Persian Gulf studies. Persian Gulf University initiatives are primarily focused on three strategic areas of excellence: energy, petroleum, gas, and petrochemistry; marine studies; and international business and commerce. By prioritizing these areas of scientific knowledge and academic activity, Persian Gulf University aims at strengthening its constructively important role in establishing and maintaining peaceful coexistence and sustainable development as well as enhancing human prosperity and well-being in the Persian Gulf region. The university's internationalization project has begun in recent years, and there has been significant growth in the international indicators, including the number of international academic members, international students, and international events. The university's mission is to become a third-generation international university with excellence in science, technology, and entrepreneurship for responding to the surrounding society's needs and creating values for the society, developing competent citizens, and responsible performance of its social roles.

Description:

Persian Gulf University (also known as PGU) (Persian: دانشگاه خلیج فارس‎) is a public university accredited by the Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. The university is the largest and the first public univeirsty located in the coastal city of Bushehr, Bushehr province, Iran. Persian Gulf University has an excellent reputation for teaching quality, academic research, and graduate employability. It is limited to the students who pass the national entrance examination administered annually by the Iranian Ministry of Science, Research, and Technology. The university is established in 1991 first as Bushehr University and started as a Technical & Engineering College with two majors of Mechanical and Civil Engineering. It is one of the best Engineering Universities in the Southern part of Iran. Today, Persian Gulf University (PGU) consists of the following 9 faculties and 5 research units/instiutes that offer 31 undergraduate programs leading to bachelor's degrees (B.A or B.Sc), 50 postgraduate programs leading to master's degrees (M.A or M.Sc), and 12 doctoral progrmas leading to Ph.D. degrees:
