Gulf Medical University

The Gulf Medical University (GMU) is a private university that evolved from the Gulf Medical College.

GMU offers bachelor’s and master’s programmes in medicine and allied health sciences. It has laboratories, classrooms and administration buildings, a stand-alone building that houses the library and the modern multimedia centres, a coffee shop and multi-cuisine restaurant, and a sports complex with courts for tennis, basketball, volleyball, badminton, squash, table tennis and grounds for cricket and football.

The vacant grounds have been earmarked for a hospital, residence halls for students and living quarters for the staff and faculty members.

The GMU campus has modern facilities that include classrooms equipped with audio-visual aids, laboratories with modern equipment and a learning centre that is equipped with up-to-date instructional and educational aids.

It encourages social, cultural and other extracurricular activities and sports to enhance the development of a comprehensive personality.

The Center for Advanced Simulation in Healthcare (CASH) is a multidisciplinary educational facility that provides a high-tech simulated and virtually created hospital set-up for the teaching of clinical and communication skills and training for all healthcare professionals, with an emphasis on developing individual and teamwork skills and professional behaviour in an active learning environment using standardised real-life scenarios.

The Gulf Medical College Hospital and Research Center (GMCH&RC) is located a few miles away and currently serves as the teaching hospital for GMU. The affiliated hospitals are located in the different Emirates: Mafraq Hospital in Abu Dhabi (HAAD), Sheikh Khalifa Hospital in Ajman, UAQ Hospital in Umm Al Quwain and Ajman Municipality Public Health Clinics.
