关于 École Nationale Supérieure Vétérinaire d’Alger
As one of Algeria's seven centres for veterinary training, École Nationale Supérieure Vétérinaire d’Alger is dedicated to the veterinary profession. Its origins trace back to the 1960s when epidemics of horse sickness highlighted the need for improved animal health.
Established by presidential decree in 1965, École Nationale Supérieure Vétérinaire d’Alger officially opened its doors in 1970. Until 1974, it was part of ENSA, the National College of Agronomy. In 2014, it moved to a purpose-built campus at El Alla, just outside Algiers, adjacent to the USTHB School of Technology.
In the academic year 2019-20, the university enrolled 702 undergraduate students, with nearly two-thirds being female, along with 141 postgraduates. They also provide continuing education through training courses for veterinary practitioners and operate a term-time veterinary clinic.
Admission to École Nationale Supérieure Vétérinaire d’Alger is highly competitive, with applicants typically requiring a weighted average score of at least 14 out of 20, one of the highest requirements among disciplines. In response to the Ministry of Agriculture's request, École Nationale Supérieure Vétérinaire d’Alger extended the veterinary course from five to six years in 2022.
