关于 Chubu University
Chubu University was set up as the Chubu Institute of Technology in 1964 and was renamed Chubu University in 1984.
It now has seven faculties, six graduate schools and 20 research institutions.
Chubu University comprises three campuses: the main campus on a hill in Kasugai in the Aichi Prefecture, one in Nagoya, the central city of Chubu (which means Central Japan in Japanese) with a population of 2.3 million and one in Ena City, Gifu Prefecture.
It has 11,000 student and 1,500 faculty and staff members.
It is a promoter of sustainability sciences and is a certified Regional Centre of UNESCO ED (Education for Sustainable Development). It has connections with NASA in digital earth research and with the Club of Rome and United Nations Centre for Regional Development in global critical issues.
The university is particularly active in sporting, particularly in handball, Kendo and baseball, all of which have teams regularly representing in the Japanese university championships.
Its excellent sports facilities include an all-weather 400m x 6 lane track and a four-story Kendo and Judo arena which is one of the best among Japanese universities.
Popular community events are held at Chubu University, such as the Chubu University Music Festival, Adult College and Kids Seminar, which are open to all local residents.
It has 44 international affiliations, as well as a special 40-year relationship with Ohio University. They have participated in a bilateral student exchange since 1977. PASEO (Preparation for Academic Study in English Overseas) at Chubu University was started in 1991 when lecturers from the US university were teaching. Yamada House in Ohio University campus was donated by Chubu University and Cupola in Chubu University campus was donated by Ohio University.
