Birmingham Southern College (BSC) is an American liberal arts college affiliated with the Methodist Church and located in Birmingham, Alabama in the USA. Although it can trace its history back to 1856 the college was born out of a merger of two other institutions, Southern University and Birmingham College which came together to from Birmingham Southern in 1918.

Teaching at BSC tries to focus on problem solving, communication and become self-reliant. The university currently offers around 25 undergraduate majors, 25 minors and 10 special programs. BSC is often rated highly for the quality of its teaching staff and its graduates.

The BSC campus covers 192 acres south of downtown Birmingham and houses 45 traditional red brick university buildings in green, leafy open spaces.
