Unfounded fear of exile

JANE McAdoo's assumption that initial teacher training will be exiled from the academic world has no foundation and shows little understanding of the Teacher Training Agency's work (THES, February 28). Its emphasis on teacher training as a professional rather than academic matter does not deny a role to universities and colleges. Higher education's role in teacher training may change but its place remains unthreatened.
