Letter(3):Real quality versus self-interest

九月 28, 2001

Confidentiality agreements prevent my naming names, but your article on the Russell Group's attempt to see off QAA subject review brings to mind the remarks of an eminent vice-chancellor of a very eminent Russell Group university. He told my team of subject reviewers that his university welcomed and valued subject review. It was institutional review with which they were unhappy.

The group's campaign may have shifted, but perhaps its intention is to dispatch subject review and then follow up by trashing and abandoning institutional review as well. All in search of some former paradise.

Who says you can't turn back the clock?
