In her understandable enthusiasm for the bucolic allure of Bretton Hall ("Liberation in merger", THES, January 21), your reporter has omitted a critical point about the proposed merger with the University of Leeds.
This is subject to the satisfactory resolution of outstanding issues, including a full investigation and analysis of the financial implications of the merger and legal, personnel and estates issues and negotiations with other interested parties, including the funding council and the Teacher Training Agency. We expect a final decision from both governing bodies in April.
