About Islamic University of Gaza
Islamic University of Gaza was founded in 1978. Before the university was established, students seeking higher education had to go to Egypt because there were no universities in the Gaza Strip.
The university is located in Gaza, the largest city in the Gaza Strip.
While the university’s main campus is in Gaza City, there are two other campuses in the middle of Gaza and in the southern Gaza Strip. The campus in the middle of Gaza is home to the University Hospital.
There are 11 faculties within the university: medicine, engineering, information technology, nursing, health science, science, arts, Sharia and law, Osoul Eddin (fundamentals of religion), education, and commerce. Each faculty is divided into different departments offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
There are also PhD degree programmes available for students looking to continue their studies. These are available in the college of management, economics, engineering, arts and information technology.
The university has developed partnerships with 142 higher education institutions around the world. These include Marmara University in Turkey, the University of Glasgow in the UK and the University of Graz in Austria. Having these international partnerships enables the university to participate in academic and scientific exchanges.
There are currently 20 research centres and institutes at the university which facilitate various research projects throughout the year.
