Egypt has long been considered the “cradle of civilisation”. Ancient Egypt was one of the first nations to pioneer modern examples of building, politics, agriculture and writing.
Now, it is of course also well known for its iconic monuments and rich history: the Pyramids of Giza, the Sphinx, the Valley of the Kings as well as the ancient cities of Memphis and Thebes.

=2. Zagazig University
Zagazig University was established in 1970.
It offers bachelor's and master's degrees and diplomas to its students and has faculties in the following disciplines: electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, architecture, computer engineering, engineering, accounting, business management, economics, statistics, veterinary science, pharmacy, education and agriculture and forestry.

Mansoura University’s main campus is located in the centre of the city of Mansoura and is comprised of 15 faculties as well as three large accommodation complexes, a student hospital, restaurants, a dining hall and a well-equipped sports complex.
The university is known for its medical facilities, with nine major hospitals and medical centres including a children's hospital, a medical experimental research centre and a urology and nephrology centre – the largest of its kind in Africa.

Kafrelsheikh University is an Egyptian public university which opened in 2006. The institution’s buildings had previously been a part of Tanta University.
Kafrelsheikh University has 19 faculties, five of which are scientific, seven of which are health-related, with the other six dedicated to the humanities. It is also host to three research institutes: the Nano Science and Technology Institute; the Institute of Drug Discovery and Development; and the Technical Institute of Nursing.

=2. Aswan University
Aswan University is located in the city of Aswan and was established as an independent institution in 2012. Prior to this it operated as a branch of Assuit University.
The institution provides teaching in a wide range of subjects, including education, social work, engineering, agriculture and archaeology among many others.
The city is close to a number of famous archaeological sites which were home to some important artefacts of Ancient Egypt as well as many modern historical sites. The university tries to ensure that students studying relevant subjects are able to access these sites.

AUC offers a variety of undergraduate, master's, and doctoral programmes rooted in liberal arts education.
AUC integrates Cairo into its educational approach, with faculty engaged in ground-breaking research. The university has the largest English-language academic library in Egypt, modern facilities, and a campus in New Cairo.

Alexandria University, originally Farouk University, gained independence in 1942 and was renamed after the 1952 Egyptian Revolution.
The seven original university faculties comprised agriculture, medicine, arts, commerce, engineering, law and science, which have grown over the years to its current total of 23. Newer specialisms such as tourism and sports education are included in its structure.

Al-Azhar University was founded in Cairo, Egypt in 970 AD and despite not gaining university status until 1961, it is still technically among the world’s oldest universities.
The university has faculties in pharmacy and education and also offers e-learning options for students who cannot attend classes on campus.
The university is affiliated with two hospitals and offers healthcare to the wider community.
1. Egypt-Japan University of Science and Technology (E-JUST)
Established in 2009 in Alexandria, Egypt, the Egypt-Japan University for Science and Technology (E-JUST) is a collaborative project between the Egyptian and Japanese governments. Although it receives support from the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the Japanese Supporting University Consortium, the university is entirely administered by the Egyptian government.
The university offers bachelor's, master's, and PhD programmes across six schools, encompassing fields like electronics, engineering, applied sciences, and business. It also provides "Study in Japan" programmes for PhD students to conduct research in Japan.
E-JUST's summer programme promotes cultural understanding between Japan and Egypt, enabling students to explore both cultures, learn Egyptian and Arabic dialects, and visit iconic landmarks.
