The University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, was originally established in 1952 as a constituent college of Peshawar University. In 1980 the college was granted full university status and became Khyber Pakhtunkhwa University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar. The university was renamed the University of Engineering and Technology, Peshawar, in 2012.
The university is located in Peshawar, a city in northern Pakistan. Peshawar is the capital of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, and its largest city.
There are four faculties within the university: the faculty of electrical and computer engineering, the faculty of mechanical, chemical and industrial engineering, the faculty of civil, agricultural and mining engineering, and the faculty of architecture, allied sciences and humanities. Between them, these faculties are divided into 22 departments offering both undergraduate and graduate degree programmes.
Following the 2005 Kashmir earthquake, the university added earthquake studies to the curriculum of its civil engineering programmes.
The university has five campuses: Peshawar, Abbottabad, Bannu, Kohat, and Jalozai. Jalozai is the university’s newest campus and is currently only offering BSc programmes in civil engineering, electrical engineering, industrial engineering, and mechanical engineering.
The university is home to the Pakistan Centre for Advanced Studies in Energy, one of the leading sustainable energy research centres in Pakistan. The centre aims to support the success of women and disadvantaged students within the field of engineering. Collaborations with both industry and government representatives take place throughout the year.
