关于 Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS)
Maria Curie-Skłodowska University (UMCS), founded in 1944, is the largest higher education institution in eastern Poland.
The university is named after Maria Curie Sklodowska, the Polish-born French physicist who discovered radium and polonium. She was the first person and only woman to win the Nobel Prize twice and the only person to win the Nobel Prize in two areas of science.
The university is located in Lublin, a city in eastern Poland. The city sits between Poland’s eastern borders with Ukraine and Belarus.
There are 11 faculties within the university: arts, biology and biotechnology, chemistry, economics, philosophy and sociology, humanities, mathematics, physics and computer science, earth sciences and spatial management, education and psychology, political science and journalism, and law and administration. Each faculty offers a variety of degree programmes at bachelors, masters and doctoral level.
The university also has a branch campus situated in Puławy, which was established in 2013. This campus offers degree programmes in engineering and technical chemistry, which were developed by the university together with the Puławy Nitrogen Plant and the New Chemical Syntheses Institute.
The International Cooperation Centre is responsible for overseeing academic and scientific collaborations between the university and scientists from across the globe. The university has developed partnerships with more than 200 international higher education institutions in order to facilitate these collaborations.
