Petroleum University of Technology

The Petroleum University of Technology is a specialised public university located in Ahvaz, Iran. Established in 1961, the university is known for its work in the field of petroleum engineering and technology education.

Petroleum University of Technology offers academic degrees and programmes related to the oil and gas sector. At the undergraduate level, students can pursue programmes in fields such as petroleum engineering, chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, and geophysics.

The university also offers postgraduate degrees through the four main faculties: Abadan faculty of petroleum, Abadan faculty of petroleum, Tehran faculty of petroleum or Mahmoudabad faculty of nautical science.

Petroleum University of Technology has a department library and a range of educational laboratories across four departments. The university houses various research laboratories, including the Centre for Corrosion Research, Advanced Non-destructive Evaluation Research Laboratory, Research Centre for Geoscience and Petroleum Engineering, and Centre for Coating Research.

The university has educational laboratories in areas such as geoscience, mechanical and physical metallurgy, unit operations, process control, fluid mechanics, heat transfer, analytical chemistry, organic chemistry, physical chemistry, and physics. The laboratories are equipped with tools such as ultrasonic processors, centrifuges, and gas chromatographs.

Each educational unit has psychological counselling staff to support students with their mental health. Student dormitories are available for those who want to live on campus during their studies and the university has many sports facilities.
