关于 Saint Michael's College
Established by priests from the Society of Saint Edmund in 1904, Saint Michael’s College is the only Edmundite college in the world and sits on a scenic, 440-acre campus close to Burlington, in the state of Vermont.
The institution initially opened for students aged 10-22, but as the decades passed Saint Michael’s College slowly fazed out the high school program and became a more traditional US college, offering graduate programs for the first time in 1939.
In the 1950s the student population grew rapidly and Saint Michael’s College expanded to accommodate the influx of new students and in 1970 the college became coeducational, with the first female graduates receiving their degrees two years later.
Today there are 36 majors available in a variety of study fields. The student population is very international with students coming from more than 30 countries across the world.
The campus is divided between Main Campus and North Campus, which are just one mile apart. The majority of residence halls are on the Main Campus as well as the major academic buildings and a significant proportion of the classrooms.
There are more than 40 student clubs and organisations at Saint Michael’s College as well as 21 varsity sports teams, known as the Purple Knights, competing in the NCAA’s Division II.
Over the years thousands of student have graduated from Saint Michael’s College, including US Senator Patrick Leahy, human-rights activist Loung Ung, MTV co-founder Tom Freston and neuroscientist James H. Fallon.
