关于 Muskingum University
Muskingum University is a private liberal arts college named for the location of its 245-acre campus in the village of New Concord, Muskingum County, Ohio. The University is affiliated to the Presbyterian Church.
Almost 70 majors are offered at Muskingum, including 13 interdisciplinary majors. Students with a definite career in mind can opt for pre-professional programmes in medicine, law and six other fields. As a liberal arts college, Muskingum requires all students to complete a course of general education to give a foundation in different areas of knowledge. Students are required to study units in topics including writing, speech, communication in a digital and global age, religious understanding, moral enquiry, quantitative reasoning and cultural diversity.
While students are known as Muskies, athletes are known as Fighting Muskies. Alumni are collectively known as the “Long Magenta Line”. The most famous of the line, and one of the university’s top supporters, is astronaut and politician John Glenn.
The Fighting Muskies have teams in ten men’s and nine women’s sports, including basketball, lacrosse and cross country. They compete in the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) Division III and the Ohio Athletic Conference.
The Muskingum campus sits on the hills overlooking New Concord. It features a traditional quad, a lake, a football stadium and a recreation centre. The capital of Columbus is one hour away. New Concord itself is a village founded by the Scotch-Irish Presbyterians who also established Muskingum University.
