关于 Belmont Abbey College
Belmont Abbey College is an arts college affiliated with the Catholic church, located in North Carolina about 15 miles from the city of Charlotte. It was founded in 1876 by the Benedictine monks of Belmont Abbey.
Belmont Abbey is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools and is simultaneously approved by the American Medical Association.
Belmont has continuously ranked high among similar colleges in the Southeast.
The Belmont Abbey Crusaders – the official sports team – participate in the NCAA’s Division II programmes, as well as being members of Conference Carolinas. In 2012, Women's Volleyball, Women's Soccer, and Men's Basketball all won the NCAA Division II Conference Carolina title.
In addition to sports, Belmont Abbey has a strong theatre department, which was founded in 1883. The theatre produces around six shows a year, representing a wide variety of drama, comedy and musicals. It also functions as the Belmont Community Theatre, which means theatre artists from the surrounding Metrolina area visit and perform, widening student connections within the industry.
The Abbey Chorus, Belmont Abbey Quintet, and Carolina Pro Musica – an instrumental group that plays pre-1800 music on historic instruments – are also active on campus.
Notable alumni include Nikki Hornsby, Grammy voting singer songwriter guitarist recording artist & founder of CJP-NHRecords, Tony Suarez, professional soccer player for Carolina Lightnin', and Vincent Stanislaus Waters, Bishop of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Raleigh.
