关于 Wagner College

Wagner College is a private institution in New York City which is best-known for its liberal arts provision. Founded in 1883, the institution’s roots lie in Rochester, on the other side of the state, but it has been based in Staten Island, one of NYC’s five boroughs, since 1918. It became coeducational in 1933.

More than two-thirds of Wagner students live on its campus, which comprises more than 100 acres on the north west of the island, two miles from the free ferry that connects it to Manhattan. It enjoys excellent views of the sea and the city skyline.

Wagner is ranked among the North East’s 25 best regional colleges, and has also been praised for its affordability and community service roles. Psychology, nursing, business administration and arts administration are among the most popular courses, but its theatrical and medical programmes have received extra credit. Wagner’s campus has been used to shoot various films and television shows, including School of Rock, The Sopranos and Law & Order.

Wagner alumni include the actor Robert Loggia, who appeared in Scarface, Independence Day and Revenge of the Pink Panther among other films, and TV shows like Columbo, Frasier and Malcolm in the Middle, and CSI: NY star Carmine Giovinazzo, who played Danny Messer in the crime series. Pulitzer Prize-winning author Paul Zindel and Major League Baseball pitcher Andrew Bailey, an all-star who has played for the Oakland Athletics, the Boston Red Sox, the New York Yankees, the Philadelphia Phillies and the Anaheim Angels, are just some of the others.
