关于 Concordia College-New York
Concordia College-New York is a liberal arts institution just north of America’s largest city, linked to the Lutheran Church. Concordia is situated in the prosperous village of Bronxville, around 15 miles north of New York City centre. Safe and serene, Bronxville is well-connected by road and public transport and has a laid back feel and plenty of green spaces.
Established by German immigrants in 1881 as Concordia Progymnasium, initially modeled on the German education system, it was known as Concordia Collegiate Institute from 1918 to 1969, before switching its focus from secondary to tertiary education. It has held degree-awarding powers since the 1970s, from 2011 encompassing master’s qualifications as well. Some roots lie in Lower Manhattan and Hawthorne, both around half an hour away, but most of its history has unfolded on its current site.
Originally an all-male institution, Concordia has been coeducational since 1939. It is one of 10 members of the Concordia University System across the country, with other institutions being situated in California, Texas, Oregon, Nebraska, Alabama, Illinois, Wisconsin, Michigan and Minnesota.
Business administration and nursing are by far the most popular courses taken at undergraduate level.
It is open to students from all religious traditions and non-religious perspectives, and a majority of students live on campus.
