Doane College-Crete is a private liberal arts college established in 1872 in Crete, Nebraska, US - a town of 7,000 people. Its other campuses are in Lincoln, Grand Island and Omaha. Doane boasts its mission to help both traditional and non-traditional learners.
Doane offers over 40 undergraduate majors, pre-professional programmes, three graduate programmes and one PhD.
As an undergraduate, you can choose to study accounting, art, biology,computer science, engineering, English, environmental science, French, German, graphic design, history, health and society, information systems, journalism and media, international studies, law, politics and society, mathematics, leadership studies, music, natural science, philosophy, physical science, pre-engineering, pre-veterinary medicine, psychology, religious studies, sociology, Spanish, theatre, social science and other subjects.
Students can join student organisations ranging from Biochemistry, Choir, Sports Medicine, Forensics, Accounting Club and Sports Medicine to Christian Athletes, Jazz Ensemble, Spanish Club, Dance Project, Wildlife and Conservation Organisation. There is also a beautiful open air theatre which hosts classes, graduation ceremonies and even weddings.
Doane’s remarkable alumni include American educator Fannie L. Atcitty, professor of philosophy at Stanford University John Perry, sociologist and educator Henry Pratt Fairchild, CEO of Mack Trucks Zenon C. R. Hansen, Navajo politician Chris Deschene and poet Weldon Kees.
