Georgetown College

Based in Kentucky, Georgetown College is a small Christian liberal arts college, which was the first Baptist college west of the Allegheny Mountains. The college became a member of the Southern University Conference in 2010.

The college offers mostly undergraduate degrees, however they also offer Master of Arts in Education. Undergraduate subjects include: American studies, child development, classics, computer science, international business and culture, mathematics, and nursing. 

Since 1989, Georgetown College has produced five Rhodes Scholars and 38 Fulbright Scholars.

There is also an honours programme at the university, and a partnership with Regent's Park College in Oxford, which means that students have the opportunity to spend up to a year studying at Oxford University in the UK. The college participates in a number of consortia to provide off-campus and international experiences for its students.

Georgetown College has some 58 student clubs and organisations, including four national fraternities, which cover a wide range of interests, including: government, recreation, community service, activism, the arts, and academics. 

As a Christian college, there is a chapel on campus as well as several Christian and religious groups for students such as Common Ground and Campus Outreach.

There are galleries at Georgetown College, which are dedicated to exhibiting artwork through both permanent and temporary exhibitions, while representing a wide variety of media and techniques. Galleries include: the Jacobs Gallery, Cochenour Gallery, Anne Wright Wilson Fine Art Gallery, and Live. Learn. Believe. All are located on Georgetown College’s campus and are free and open to the public. 

A student-run newspaper, called The Georgetonian, publishes multiple issues annually, while a student-run radio station, WRVG, is housed on campus and broadcasts daily. 

There are many traditions on campus which include: homecoming, where every year, alumni head to Georgetown's campus to have brunch, listen to live music and select a homecoming King and Queen. Other traditions include Belle of the Blue, Georgetown's small-scale version of Miss America, and Grubfest, where students join in the Quad for the annual battle to see which team can complete the most challenges. 

Notable alumni include Chia-Wei Woo, the Founding President of the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology, Buell Kazee, who is considered to be one of the most successful folk musicians in history, and Billy Ray Cyrus, an American singer, songwriter and actor, and father to Miley Cyrus.
