About the Role 

Following the opening of the University’s new state-of-the-art City Campus, we are looking for a Campus Safety and Security Supervisor to ensure the safety of the staff, students and visitors of our sites.

The Campus Safety and Security Supervisor will be expected to operate within a framework of established policies and procedures to ensure the safety of the patrons and the security of the campuses and its facilities.

The key position responsibilities of the Campus Safety and Security Supervisor will include (but is not limited to):


	Overseeing and supervising the daily operations of security staff and contracted staff, ensuring all security protocols and procedures are followed.
	Providing training and support to security staff, ensuring they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their duties effectively.
	Initiating and undertaking regular safety audits and risk assessments, identifying potential security vulnerabilities and implementing corrective actions in collaboration with the Safety & Security Manager.
	Enforcing and ensuring proper functionality of all university security protocols, including card access, CCTV, key control, patrols, and surveillance are strictly followed by the security team including external service providers.
	Establishing and maintaining strong working relationships with university internal stakeholders, external security groups and stakeholders, emergency services and law enforcement agencies.


This position may require working outside of normal hours, participating in a rostered on-call arrangement, or serving as an Emergency Control Coordinator for the University.

About You 

The successful candidate will need to have experience in supervising and overseeing security officers and operations. A vital part of the role will be supervising, training and supporting the on-campus security staff, and ensuring they are informed and educated at a high-enough level to follow all security protocols and procedures.

This position will report to the Campus Safety and Security Manager located at the Bedford Park campus, so the successful candidate will need to be someone who is autonomous and ready to make the role their own; willing to be the face of security at our Campuses and ensure its smooth operation on a day-to-day basis. A key aspect of delivering these outcomes will be the ability to establish and maintain strong working relationships with University internal stakeholders, external security groups, emergency services and law enforcement agencies. This will require a ‘people person’ with excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and an ability to operate well under pressure.

About the Property, Facilities and Development team: 

The Property, Facilities and Development (PFD) team works across all of Flinders’ places, spaces, and physical infrastructure. Working to four key areas: Strategic Planning and Sustainability; Capital Development; Customer and Site Services; and Strategic Projects, and we are responsible for the planning, development, capital delivery, management, and maintenance of university spaces to ensure they are fit for purpose and support Flinders to deliver its strategic objectives. We wish to appoint a post doctoral Research Fellow to work within a partnership between the University of Southampton and Hampshire County Council to conduct public health evaluation projects.

The post holder will manage the day-to-day running of the research, and responsibilities will include: project management (coordination and reporting), maintaining high quality research procedures, mixed methods data collection and analysis, writing up findings in a report and publications, and presenting at conferences, and supporting ethics and research governance applications.

Examples of public health project evaluations to be conducted include evaluating health promotion interventions in schools and community settings, a newly established tobacco control programme implemented across NHS and community settings, a newly established lived experience recovery organisations (LEROs) for people recovering from drug and alcohol dependence, physical activity pilot programmes, and other public health interventions as required.

The post holder will be based at the School of Primary Care, Population Sciences and Medical Education, Faculty of Medicine, University of Southampton and Hampshire County Council working closely with their public health team.

You will have a relevant PhD or equivalent research-related qualifications and experience in working in public health or applied health services research, with qualitative and quantitative data skills.

Excellent organisational and communication skills are also essential for the role. The post is full time (1.0 FTE), funded by Hampshire County Council for a duration of up to 5 years. Flexible working, part-time / job share will be considered.

The post will be at the level of Postdoctoral Research Fellow.

About the job

For a position as a PhD Candidate, the goal is a completed doctoral education up to an obtained doctoral degree.

The PhD position is in the newly granted Collaborative and Knowledge-building Project Collaborative Project ‘Tailoring Metallurgically bonded nanoscale interfaces between Al, Cu and Ni involving Deformation enhanced diffusion (MAD). In this project NTNU and SINTEF, in collaboration with industry partners, will develop, design and extend the application range of cold-welding technology. The basic idea behind the MAD project is to control temperature and tailor plastic deformation at the nanoscale by exploiting the potential of deformation-enhanced diffusion, with the objective of making strong cold-welded joints between Al and Cu (and Ni). By microstructuring the joint geometry, we aim to generate an interface nanostructure that provides optimized strength and conductivity for electrical applications, such as battery systems produced by Corvus Energy. The development will be conducted in situ, within a focused ion beam (FIB) instrument, which serves as a testbed for creating the desired metallurgically bonded nanoscale interfaces. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM) will be used for structural and chemical characterization of the joints at the nanoscale, Use of the NORTEM infrastructure at TEM Gemini Center will be important in the PhD study, including data analysis and method development.This is also an exciting time to join the TEM Gemini Centre as we are currently installing a new top instrument that will be operational by August 2025. MAD will lay a foundation for fabrication advanced multi-material components and products in Norway based on cold welding and solid-state additive manufacturing, where a combination of mechanical and electrical properties is crucial for functionality. The industry partners in the project are Hydro ASA, Corvus Energy AS and Professor Grong AS.

Duties of the position


	Perform original research, collaborate closely with other researchers in SFI PhysMet, TEM Gemini Centre and the MAD project group.
	Plan and carry out experiments according to the project goals with the support of industry partners.
	Write and publish journal articles and present results at international scientific conferences.
	Perform advanced TEM studies and microstructure studies of cold-welded joints of Al, Cu and Ni.  
	Develop analysis methods and high throughput data analysis of TEM experiments.


Required selection criteria


	You must have a professionally relevant background in nanotechnology, physics and/or materials technology.
	Your education must correspond to a five-year Norwegian degree program, where 120 credits are obtained at master's level
	You must have a strong academic background from your previous studies and an average grade from the master's degree program, or equivalent education, which is equal to B or better compared with NTNU's grading scale. If you do not have letter grades from previous studies, you must have an equally good academic basis. If you have a weaker grade background, you may be assessed if you can document that you are particularly suitable for a PhD education.
	Current master's students can apply, but the master's degree must be obtained and documented before the start of the position and no later than 15 August 2025.
	You must meet the requirements for admission to https://www.ntnu.edu/nv/phd/admission.
	You must be able to document knowledge and hands-on experience with TEM. Experience with FIB will also be an asset. 
	You must have basic computer and programming skills. High level skills here can compensate for a lack of hands-on skills in TEM.
	You must have good oral and written presentation skills in English and preferably also in Norwegian


The appointment is to be made in accordance with Regulations on terms of employment for positions such as postdoctoral fellow, Phd candidate, research assistant and specialist candidate and Regulations concerning the degrees of Philosophiae Doctor (PhD) and Philosodophiae Doctor (PhD) in artistic research national guidelines for appointment as PhD, post doctor and research assistant

Salary and conditions

As a PhD candidate (code 1017) you are normally paid from gross NOK 532 200 per annum before tax. From the salary, 2% is deducted as a contribution to the Norwegian Public Service Pension Fund.

The period of employment is 3 years.

Appointment to a PhD position requires that you are admitted to the PhD programme in Physics within three months of employment, and that you participate in an organized PhD programme during the employment period.

The engagement is to be made in accordance with the regulations in force concerning State Employees and Civil Servants, and the acts relating to Control of the Export of Strategic Goods, Services and Technology. Candidates who by assessment of the application and attachment are seen to conflict with the criteria in the latter law will be prohibited from recruitment to NTNU. After the appointment you must assume that there may be changes in the area of work.

The position is subject to external funding.

It is a prerequisite you can be present at and accessible to the institution daily.

About the Role

The Associate Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Research Training & Development will be responsible for leading improvements to the quality of the University's research education programs, and its commitments to Higher Degree by Research candidates. Building on the research capabilities of the University.

The main focus for 2025 onwards, will be to deliver on the Research Training targets related to sustainable growth in HDR profile, industry engagement and productivity of HDR candidates while maintaining improvements in the experience of all HDR candidates irrespective of geographical location and enrolling school.

This role reports directly to the Deputy Vice-Chancellor R&I and is responsible for the following:


	Strategically aligning the Higher Degrees by Research Plan with the Research & Innovation Decadal Aspirations and the RMIT University Strategic Plan - Knowledge with Action.
	Leading and managing the School of Graduate Research (SGR).
	Overseeing the HDR strategic direction, policy and planning.
	Providing HDR candidate training, supervisor training and professional development, and delivering services across the University to support research training.
	Building and maintaining national and international networks.
	Contributing actively to RMIT Research Committee and the DVC R&I's Executive team and other Committees as required.
	Chairing of the Graduate Research Committee.
	Participating as a member of the RMIT Senior Leadership team.

An exciting opportunity has arisen to join the Times Higher Education (THE) and Education World Forum (EWF) teams as an Event Manager, handling operations and logistics for our global portfolio of events, with a special focus on the annual Education World Forum.

For 20 years, EWF has provided a forum for education and skills ministers from across the globe to share best practice and discuss solutions to common challenges. It comprises of three days of sessions featuring policymakers and experts, with many sessions given by ministers themselves as part of an honest assessment of the state of global education.

In addition to the EWF, this role will also contribute to THE’s global events footprint of 40+ summits and conferences throughout the year. You will work alongside our Event Operations team to ensure the smooth delivery of our events.
