The Infectious Disease and Epidemiology Research group in the School of Clinical and Experimental Sciences wish to appoint two Research Facilitators to help support the technical aspects of research activities and to assist with the day to day running of research studies undertaken by the group. The research group is based within the Faculty of Medicine at Southampton General Hospital.

Our group is undertaking a number of projects looking at the epidemiology of respiratory pathogens. Applications are invited from those with relevant experience of laboratory based microbiology and experience of research governance. Experience of bacterial identification is desirable. These posts are full-time but consideration will be given to those who wish to work part-time. Applicants must be available to work with some flexibility.

Experience with a wide range of modeling and fabrication techniques which may include: clay, wood, metal, plastics and found objects; mold making; and familiarity with digital technology and new media. Experience in ceramic studio and woodshop management (ex. firing and care of kilns, oversight of other equipment in the clay and woodshop areas, understanding of glaze use and storage, etc.). Essential Responsibilities Include: Ability to teach undergraduate ceramic and sculpture students applied lessons at all levels. Responsible for studio maintenance and supervision of the ceramics/woodshop facilities. Work closely with faculty and staff on the maintenance of classrooms and purchasing. Work with VISU faculty and the Environmental, Health, &amp; Safety Coordinator maintain safety procedures and policies for classrooms and equipment. Mentor work study students to work in the woodshop and clay studio. Serve as academic advisor and creative mentor to a diverse body of students. Contribute to curriculum development and program assessment efforts. Participate actively in university and department committees, as needed. The Cyber Security & Privacy lab (CSP-laboratory) of Dr. Christina Pöpper, part of the Center for Cyber Security at New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a Post-Doctoral Associate to work on the seminal topic of Cellular and Wireless Network Security: security & privacy in and for current and future mobile/cellular networks (5G), including nextG systems, terrestrial, and satellite-based systems.  Although a postdoctoral candidate will be preferred, this position may also be filled by a research engineer or research assistant in well justified cases.

The CSP-laboratory conducts cutting-edge research in communication and cyber security and privacy, in particular on


	Security and privacy in mobile telephony networks (5G, 6G, ORAN)
	Security in satellite-based and airborne communication
	Security and privacy in wireless systems
	Anonymous or privacy-preserving communication


The successful applicant will drive a fascinating project on the topic of security and privacy in 5G and next generation wireless/cellular networks.  Our research group has made and contributed to important security investigations and offensive work on the specification, implementation, and deployment side of cellular networks. This includes the identification of security weaknesses and vulnerabilities in 4G and 5G networks with a focus on the traffic between user equipment and base stations on multiple layers of the protocol stack and the development of automated security testing frameworks. The successful applicant is expected to build upon previous work and extend it in novel directions, e.g., focusing on location privacy aspects, the defensive side, or other aspects in the overall 5G/nextG ecosystem, which may include but are not limited to physical-layer communication, rich communication services, signaling communication, authentication, end-to-end encryption, RAN intelligent controllers, etc. Conceptual and practical work on the topic is expected to be made. Research methodologies will include experimental work with existing 5G equipment in our lab; additional expertise in software development, NLP or ML/AI will be beneficial. The candidate will work in an international and diverse environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students, and undergraduate students. The successful candidate will have the opportunity to join ongoing international collaborations.

Applicants for the postdoctoral position must have a PhD in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Cyber Security or closely related fields. Excellent experimental skills relevant to the project are required.

We are inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate in the Division of Social Science at NYU Abu Dhabi from individuals who have or will soon receive a PhD in Economics focusing on fields related to Development Economics, Public Economics, and Political Economy. The appointment is for 3 years and will begin September 1, 2025, subject to final budget approval.

The post-doctoral associate will spend half their time on independent research, and half their time on collaborative research with Professor David Blakeslee, Professor Samreen Malik and Professor Veda Narasimhan. The collaborative research will focus on human capital development, climate resilience, social welfare programs and public good service delivery in low-income countries.

We seek a candidate with expertise in using secondary data and/or collecting primary data in South Asia (India, Pakistan, Bangladesh etc.) through surveys/field experiments. This is an excellent position for a development economist interested in working on issues prevalent in South Asian economies.

The position does not require teaching, but it may be possible to get teaching experience for compensation. You would join a group of over 20 post-doctoral fellows and 70 faculty in the Division of Social Science.

About the Role

The Student Placement Officer, internally referred to as the Work Integrated Learning Support Officer is responsible for providing a range of support services for the College’s Work Integrated (WIL) programs. You will work closely with the WIL Team Leader to leverage opportunities internally and externally and assist with administration, matching students to placements and ensuring that students meet the requirements for preplacement/WIL experience and contribute to enhancing positive graduate outcomes.

You will be required to provide timely advice to various stakeholders and students to support WIL supervision and exercise sound judgement when dealing with sensitive or urgent issues relating to student placements.

As the successful candidate you will be accountable for:


	Liaising with placement providers and undertaking any administration required for placements, including the preparation of contracts, and maintaining quality student data.
	Processing and maintaining accurate data of student placements experience and supporting academic placement coordinators.
	Maintaining data records in relevant systems and preparing reports and correspondence as requested.
	Assisting with the organisation and sharing of WIL information via online and in-person methods to students, industry and academics.
