About the area

The School of Biomedical Sciences comprises four disciplines: Medical Science and Genetics; Microbiology and Immunology; Pathology and Laboratory Science; and Pharmacology and Toxicology. The School is active in teaching undergraduate Biomedical Science and Professional Pathway students across a wide range of majors and disciplines, plus has a large cohort of Honours students, postgraduate research students, and coursework students in the Master of Infectious Disease and Master of Clinical Pathology programs.

The University of Sydney, Charles Perkins Centre - The University is seeking to employ a Research Fellow to support the multi-disciplinary research team in the Charles Perkins Centre's Theme of Physical Activity. The incumbent will lead a program of incidental physical activity in socioeconomically diverse populations, as well as aspects of the ProPASS consortium health improvement in, Exercise and Energy Expenditure Theme, led by Professor Emmanuel Stamatakis. The position is located at Charles Perkins Centre, a leading multidisciplinary research institute of the University of Sydney.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	Lead physical activity interventions, including ethics approvals, recruitment, data collection, analyses and manuscript preparation
	lead co-design and community involvement work
	provide leadership to the Prospective Physical Activity, Sitting, and Sleep consortium (ProPASS)
	provide leadership of epidemiological publications on physical activity, sleep, and other behaviors
	provide regular contributions to physical activity measurement related studies included in the above program of research.
	significantly contribute to successful applications for competitive research grants and/ or funding to deliver research impact
	work under the supervision of academic staff
	typically conduct research/scholarly activities under limited supervision, either independently, or as a member of a team
	undertake administration primarily relating to staff member's activities at the University
	maintain quality, standards and excellence in all research activities and outputs
	Work out-of-office hours, as the needs of the multiple international collaboration the above program entails dictates.


About you


	PHD in relevant field
	experience with intervention design, co-design and evaluation, particularly within physical activity or health behaviour change settings
	strong expertise in qualitative research methods, including conducting interviews and thematic analysis
	experience working with diverse socioeconomic groups and/or research addressing health inequalities
	familiarity with ProPASS or similar international consortia
	background in behavioral interventions related to physical activity, sedentary behavior, or sleep
	solid understanding of epidemiological methods and study designs (e.g., cohort studies, prospective studies)
	expertise in physical activity, sedentary behavior, and/or sleep research and their associations with health outcomes
	experience with biostatistics and working with large population-based datasets
	strong track record of peer-reviewed publications in relevant fields
	experience in writing research grants and preparing reports for stakeholders or funding agencies.

Accredited professional entry-level courses include occupational therapy, physiotherapy, speech pathology, medical imaging sciences, exercise physiology and sports sciences. We are currently seeking to appoint an outstanding senior academic as Associate Professor or Professor of Allied Health, in partnership with the Sydney Local Health District (SLHD).The position is a component of a strategic partnership between the School of Health Sciences, FMH and SLHD, with the objective of enhancing the research capability among allied health clinical researchers and fostering the connection between the institutions to support research and education and other activities, such as student placements The position is co-located at the University of Sydney and Sydney Local Health District. This position will work alongside a passionate team of clinicians and researchers in the various allied health disciplines and pursue a research program, may teach in the Professor's relevant field, supervise postgraduate research students and contribute to the discipline's academic programs.

About you (skills, capabilities and experience)

The successful candidate will:


	Hold a PhD in an academic field relevant to the role
	Be registered as an allied health professional with Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) or is eligible for membership of the relevant allied health professional association if a self-regulated profession.
	Be a leading authority within their area of expertise and have an international reputation for excellence
	Possess a sound understanding of the NSW public health system and current challenges and priorities
	Possess a sound understanding of the key strategic issues in the higher education sector
	Have experience in people leadership and management within the higher education sector and demonstrated ability to supervise and/or mentor others to success
	Be passionate about improving health service delivery at the local level through enabling quality research and translation of research to practice by others
	Have demonstrated success in leading an academic endeavour from curriculum design to producing leading research and providing a student-enabling environment
	Have a distinguished record of scholarly teaching excellence (as evidenced through successful student outcomes, demonstrated impact on student learning, recognition through awards/prizes, and innovation)
	Have international reputation as an authority in their discipline or area of expertise with a strong track record of successful competitive research grants, publications, and evidence of recognition within the broader research community


Term and remuneration

This is a full time, continuing position. The successful candidate will be offered an attractive remuneration package commensurate with the responsibilities of the position and the candidate's relevant experience and qualifications. The level of appointment will be determined during the selection process, based on experience and track record. Applicants with suitable qualifications may be eligible for a salaried NSW Health Clinical appointment in SLHD subject to clinical need and funding.

Department of Laboratory Medicine

The Department of Laboratory Medicine is a laboratory-diagnostic, therapeutic, educational, and research center of the University Hospital Brno and the Faculty of Medicine, Masaryk University.
The department provides multidisciplinary laboratory diagnostics and, in the therapeutic field, cares for patients with metabolic disorders.

The Department Head position candidate must be a respected expert in the field of laboratory diagnostics in healthcare, with experience of working in a given area and with expertise in pre-graduate and postgraduate education.

The Head of the department will be responsible for the management of the clinic, undergraduate medical education, doctoral studies, publishing and coordination of research conducted at the clinic. The Candidate for Department Head will present his/her idea of fulfilling the above during the selection process.

Requirements for a declared position:


	University education in general medicine or a healthcare-related field with a focus on laboratory methods;
	specialized competency according to Act No. 95/2004 Coll., or qualification for independent practice as a non-medical healthcare professional (NLZP) in laboratory methods and preparation of medicinal products in accordance with § 26 of Act No. 96/2004 Coll.;
	specialized competency in at least two of the following fields: clinical biochemistry, hematology laboratory / hematology and transfusion medicine, medical microbiology, allergy and immunology laboratory / allergy and clinical immunology, medical genetics laboratory / medical genetics, pathological anatomy;

	teaching experience and readiness to guarantee vocational subjects taught at the workplace;
