The University of Technology, Nowshera, often referred to as UOT, is Pakistan's first-ever technology university.
Established in 2016, it offers four-year bachelor's degree programmes in various disciplines, including civil engineering technology, electrical engineering technology, electronics engineering technology, energy engineering technology, information engineering technology, and mechanical engineering technology.
English is the primary medium of instruction and examination for all courses at UOT Nowshera. However, for subjects like Pakistan studies and Islamic studies, the medium of instruction and examination may be either English or Urdu.
UOT operates on a credit hour system, where one hour of lecture per week corresponds to one contact hour per week. The number of credit hours assigned to a course is determined by the allocated contact hours. For theory courses, one contact hour of lecture equals one credit hour, while for laboratory courses, three contact hours of work per week equal one credit hour.
The university provides state-of-the-art accommodation facilities for approximately 150 students, with fully furnished rooms accommodating three students each, complete with dressing areas and attached bathrooms. The institution also offers a no-profit-no-loss messing facility for students.
UOT extends accommodation to faculty members and staff from distant areas, providing separate housing arrangements for them.
Transport services are available, including a 32-seater bus for students and a 16-seater air-conditioned Hiace for faculty members. Additionally, there is a 24/7 ambulance service for emergencies.
The university encourages extracurricular activities and maintains a balance between academics and sports. It boasts extensive grounds for sports such as football, cricket, and badminton, as well as a large gymnasium for indoor activities like table tennis and volleyball.
UOT's cafeteria offers self-service dining options with regular meals and refreshments at reasonable prices, ensuring proper hygienic conditions. It caters to both students and faculty/administrative staff.
Classrooms at UOT are well-equipped with modern technology, including high-tech, Wi-Fi-enabled multimedia facilities to enhance the learning experience.
