Applications are invited for appointment as Lecturer in the Department of Pharmacology and Pharmacy (Ref.: 530819), to commence as soon as possible, on a three-year fixed-term basis, with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance.

Applicants should possess a Master’s degree or above in Pharmacy and be a registered pharmacist in Hong Kong. They should also have at least 3 years’ work experience in hospital pharmacy practice. Experience in pharmacy programme development, assessment and evaluation would be advantageous.  

The appointee will develop and enhance the department’s teaching programmes, undertake teaching duties at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels, supervise students, and contribute to administrative duties in the Department. He/She will also be assigned duties as a pharmacist at designated practising sites to provide clinical services and patient care. Irregular working hours will be required occasionally.

A highly competitive salary commensurate with qualifications and experience will be offered, in addition to annual leave and medical benefits. At current rates, salaries tax does not exceed 15% of gross income. The appointment will attract a contract-end gratuity and University contribution to a retirement benefits scheme, totalling up to 15% of basic salary.

Experience in clinical practice of genetic counselling would be an advantage. Applicants should have an excellent command of written and spoken English and Chinese, strong leadership and management skills, and good coordination, communication and interpersonal skills. They should be responsible, mature, attentive to details, and able to work independently and in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team.

The appointee will provide genetic counselling to patients in the Department, work on research projects in reproductive medicine, and perform other duties as assigned.

Description

The newly established Abu Dhabi Precision Medicine Virtual Research Institute (ADPMVRI) at New York University Abu Dhabi invites applicants for a research assistant position. The Institute aims to develop a comprehensive research infrastructure - whereby diagnosis, prognosis, and treatment of health disorders are tailored to each patient. In the context of brain health, the Institute supports several projects aiming to 1) understand the basis of brain disorders and health outcomes of the most common non-communicable diseases in the UAE and 2) integrate large multi-omics and neuroimaging datasets.

Applicants with a strong interest in genomics and brain health research, as well as good analytical skills are encouraged to apply. Key responsibilities of the research assistant will include:


	Conducting literature reviews
	Planning data collection and participant recruitment
	Performing analysis of genomic and/or neuroimaging data


The research assistant will also assist in training new lab members and disseminating research findings through peer-reviewed scientific journal articles.

The ideal candidate must have a background in neuroimaging and/or genomics data analytics. The candidate is expected to have programming experience with MATLAB, python, and/or R.  Familiarity working within a high-performance computing environment or machine learning and artificial intelligence applications is a plus. Attention to detail, strong problem-solving and decision-making capabilities, and articulated oral and written communication skills are essential

Research Associate / PhD Student (m/f/x)

for our DFG-funded EJMobility project, starting as soon as possible. The position is limited to three years. The period of employment is governed by the Fixed Term Research Contracts Act (Wissenschaftszeitvertragsgesetz - WissZeitVG). The position offers the chance to obtain further academic qualification (usually PhD).

Project description: Pursuing equity and justice in transportation systems is a fundamental aspect of building inclusive and sustainable cities. However, in many cities, disparities in transportation access and its urban impacts persist, reflecting deep-rooted inequalities. Complexity arises in defining transport equity, as the choice of distributive principle significantly influences its measurement and outcomes. Therefore, it is still challenging for policymakers to practically evaluate and compare different equity case definitions due to the lack of suitable tools that can universally model transport equity.

EJMobility aim is to develop methods that can (i) measure, (ii) optimize, and (iii) evaluate fairness in transport under different facets of environmental justice. We develop a novel bi-level formulation that integrates the concepts of Environmental Justice (EJ) and Environmental Justice over Time (EJoT) into a unified framework for network design and resource pricing. By incorporating these vital elements into the transportation planning process, we strive to create a more inclusive, efficient, and equitable system that caters to the needs of diverse populations and regions.

Tasks: 


	investigate and formalize critical equity cases in transportation systems using datasets (e.g., POI, population, travel time) to quantify environmental justice (EJ) metrics and integrate them into network design frameworks
	formulate novel optimization models for combined network design and resource pricing, incorporating fairness for different transport aspects (e.g., accessibility, emissions, safety)
	employ state-of-the-art metaheuristic algorithms (e.g., genetic algorithms, simulated annealing) to solve large-scale EJ-integrated optimization problems, supplemented by exact methods (e.g., MILP solvers) for benchmarking small-scale scenarios
	perform sensitivity analyses to assess how network structures, pricing schemes, and EJ parameters influence equity outcomes for protected groups
	participate in and/or present at conferences and/or workshops relevant to the project as required
	assist with the project-related supervision of research students in the research area where required


Requirements:


	have a university degree in a relevant field, e.g., transportation engineering, mathematics, computer science
	are passionate about transportation research with a good grasp on the fundamentals of transportation systems optimization
	possess excellent research, academic writing, and analytical skills
	have a strong programming background with experience in using Python, C/C++, and/or Java, etc.
	strong interpersonal skills with demonstrated ability to communicate (written and oral in English) and interact with a diverse range of stakeholders and students

About the opportunity

The Technical Facilities Manager, Fire will provide technical leadership and direction to ensure the compliance and reliability of all Fire plant and equipment, ensuring it is operating safely and meets all statutory obligations with asset lifecycles maintained. In this role you will also be responsible for contract management to improve efficiencies in repairs and maintenance within a controlled budget. Furthermore, you will build professional partnerships with teams, service providers and University stakeholders to ensure delivery of infrastructure services on time and on budget, with a strong focus on practical installation, configuration and communication.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	oversee the efficient operation of all plant and equipment, ensuring optimal asset lifecycle management
	act as the central point of contact to Fire systems and services to best support academic and research needs
	provide in-depth technical expertise on asset monitoring, maintenance, and sustainability, ensuring all maintenance activities and equipment upgrades adopt sustainable energy reduction technologies
	manage asset strategies, ensuring regular quality assurance assessments on maintenance tasks and coordinating with external authority bodies concerning university engineering services.
	manage work area reporting and legislative compliance, ensuring data accuracy within university systems and alignment with work area standards.


About you:


	trade qualifications and/or a minimum of five (5) years' experience in Maintenance of Fire Systems and or associated Mechanical HVAC systems, with good working knowledge of AFSS and AS 1851
	excellent communication skills both written and verbal with an emphasis on analysis and strategic planning and succinct reporting and recommendations
	Up to date with current WH&S, QA and ideally environmental legislation and systems
	experience working with capital works, infrastructure and development projects
	familiarity with the operation of Services generally, including (mechanical, hydraulic, lifts, fire, electrical etc.) and Building services delivery.
