The University of Science and Technology Beijing was first founded in 1952, and has existed under its current name since 1988.
As the name suggests, the university’s core aims are to foster excellence in the scientific field, and as such it offers a wide range of technological subjects such as metallurgy, manufacturing, and a number of different engineering and scientific disciplines.
Located primarily on a large campus in Beijing, close to the 2008 Olympic village, students at this institution can expect easy access to the heart of the Chinese capital, and to its plethora of cultural, artistic and social areas including the Forbidden City at Beijing’s centre, and the more modern shopping and financial districts.
The University of Science and Technology Beijing also has a commitment to contributing to the international scientific and technological industry, with metallurgy being of particular focus for the institution. As a result of this, the university draws together high-level experts from a range of scientific areas and from a range of global institutions, both from industry and academia, and as such can potentially offer a great deal to students looking to not only develop their understanding of science and technology but also to make their own contributions to their chosen field.
The university is relatively young, but still has its fair share of seasoned alumni including Chinese political leaders such as Luo Gan, Huang Mengfu and former Shanghai mayor Xu Kuangdi.
