About

Basic information and contact details for the University of Rome III

institution

The University of Rome III, known by locals as Roma Tre, was originally founded in 1992 in order to help alleviate a perceived lack of university places in the Italian capital.

The university was established within a series of older and reclaimed buildings, and is currently situated on a main campus close to the Tiber River, towards Rome’s southern side. Roma Tre operates multiple facilities throughout the city however, including a number of independent research centres focusing on things such as American studies and Institutional Economics, as well as a sustainable farm.

The city of Rome itself is known to many as the “Eternal City”, owing to its enormous historical influence during crucial periods in European and world history. Be it ancient thousand year-old Roman ruins such as the Coliseum, the Piazzas of the Italian renaissance, or the Rome football derby between Roma and Lazio, Rome is one of the most famous and visited cities in the world.

Students at Roma Tre have over 50 undergraduate degree courses to choose from in subjects such as law, politics and economics, as well as a number of postgraduate programmes.

Roma Tre also offers courses in Italian as a foreign language for any prospective international students, as well as partnerships with a number of domestic and international universities. Despite its very recent founding, Roma Tre has a number of distinguished alumni, including the first female Mayor of Rome, Virginia Raggi, as well as the economist Paolo Leon.
