Job description

University College Birmingham are seeking to appoint a Deputy Designated Safeguarding Lead (DDSL) for a fixed term period for our busy and friendly safeguarding team, part of the Student Services and Wellbeing directorate.

You will play a critical role in ensuring the safety and well-being of all UCB students, aged 16+, whether studying on one of our college or university courses. The DDSL will assist the Designated Safeguarding Lead and Head of FE Pastoral Support in all matters relating to safeguarding by addressing concerns effectively and proactively.

You will work 1-1 with students, liaising with their families or guardians, as well as advising and supporting teaching and professional services staff who raise concerns. You will understand child and adult safeguarding processes and organisations locally as well as nationally. You will have excellent time management and communication skills and be able to deal with a crisis in a calm and effective manner.

The Department of Arts and Design in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites qualified Interdisciplinary Researcher in Artificial Intelligence and Design from around the world for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor of Interdisciplinary Research in Artificial Intelligence and Design. The newly formed Department of Arts and Design at the University of Macau consists of a team of prestigious art historians, practicing artists, as well as designers and design theorists, and hence emphasizes equally on academic research, artistic creation and design innovation. In line with Macao's special position in the world, the department encourages faculty members to engage in active artistic, design and academic pursuits that cut across the boundaries between the traditional and the contemporary, between China and the world, as well as between theory and practice.

Qualifications

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting from MOP1,052,800 (approx. USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% – 7% after various discretionary exemptions. The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) under the Faculty of Engineering at The Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK) is seeking a tenure-track faculty member at Assistant Professor or higher level. We provide an excellent multi-disciplinary environment to encourage research collaboration within and outside the Department.

Building upon a strong record in multidisciplinary BME research, the Faculty of Engineering in close collaboration with the Faculty of Medicine is offering BME programmes at levels from Bachelor of Engineering to Doctor of Philosophy. The BEng and MPhil/PhD programmes are hosted in BME with academic contributions from different disciplines.

The Department is looking for an excellent candidate with various engineering underpinnings in the areas of (i) biomolecular engineering & nanomedicine and (ii) biomedical imaging and informatics. Applicants should have a relevant PhD degree and a good scholarly record demonstrating potential for teaching and research excellence.

The successful candidate will be expected to (a) develop a significant independent research programme with external funding; (b) supervise postgraduate students; (c) teach undergraduate and postgraduate courses; and (d) perform duties for the Department and the University.

Appointment will normally be made on contract basis for up to three years initially commencing as soon as possible, which subject to mutual agreement, may lead to longer-term appointment or substantiation. Substantive appointment at Professor rank may be considered for outstanding candidates with proven records.
