The University of Macau (UM) is an internationalized public comprehensive university in the Macao Special Administrative Region (MSAR) located at the west bank of the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area (GBA). In 2013, UM launched the Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) (http://fhs.um.edu.mo/), which aims at providing excellent education programmes, performing outstanding research and delivering dedicated services to the community. FHS established the Department of Public Health and Medicinal Administration (DPM) that aims at fortifying the teaching and research in the area of public health, with particular focuses on traditional public health, hospital management, medicinal administration, infectious diseases, and data science. DPM now offers two academic programmes: Bachelor of Science in Bioinformatics and Master of Science in Global Public Health, in addition to the new academic programme, Doctor of Public Health offered by FHS since the 2024/2025 academic year.

DPM of FHS now invites applications for the position of Full/Associate/Assistant Professor in Public Health. The candidate is expected to have strong exposure in at least one of the following three areas: traditional public health, hospital management and/or medicinal administration.

Qualifications

A doctoral degree in related biological, health and/or medical studies. Candidate for Assistant Professor should demonstrate a high potential of excellence in research and teaching and is preferable to have at least three years of postdoctoral training. The appointment at the rank of Full Professor and Associate Professor depends on qualification and achievements of the candidate, such as the established international excellence in research and scholarship as a proven record of publications in high calibre international journals.

The selected candidate is expected to assume duty in 2024/2025.

Remuneration

A taxable annual remuneration starting MOP1,250,200 (approximately USD154,350) for the position of Full Professor; MOP1,052,800 (approximately USD129,980) for the position of Associate Professor and MOP855,400 (approximately USD105,600) for the position of Assistant Professor will be commensurate with the successful applicants’ academic qualification and relevant professional experience. The current local maximum income tax rate is 12% but is effectively around 5% - 7% after various discretionary exemptions. The Department of Arts and Design in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities invites qualified Design Theorist or Design Historian from around the world for the position of Associate/Assistant Professor of Design Theory and History. The newly formed Department of Arts and Design at the University of Macau consists of a team of prestigious art historians, practicing artists, as well as designers and design theorists, and hence emphasizes equally on academic research, artistic creation and design innovation. In line with Macao's special position in the world, the department encourages faculty members to engage in active artistic, design and academic pursuits that cut across the boundaries between the traditional and the contemporary, between China and the world, as well as between theory and practice.

Qualifications

Applicants must possess a Doctoral degree in Design, Art History or related areas, have both design academic research capability and rich curatorial practical experience. Candidates with experience in supervising doctoral and master’s students for their theses and dissertations are preferred. Proficiency in English. Preference will be given to those with theoretical qualities in contemporary technology philosophy, critical thinking, interdisciplinary academic research skills, and significant industry achievements.

As the first psychology department in Hong Kong, established in 1968, our department has a rich history of academic excellence. Ranked 3rd in Asia and 34th worldwide in the 2024 QS World University Ranking in the subject of Psychology, our 20 faculty members and over 100 research postgraduates and postdoctoral fellows actively engage in a wide range of research areas, including clinical psychology/neuropsychology, cognitive psychology/cognitive science, neuroscience, educational and developmental psychology, as well as social/health psychology. Our department offers comprehensive undergraduate, taught postgraduate, MPhil, and PhD programs in psychology.
