About

Basic information and contact details for the University of KwaZulu-Natal

institution

The University KwaZulu-Natal in Durban, eastern South Africa, was formed in 2004 following a merger of the University of Durban-Westville and the University of Natal, the first institutions to merge after government legislation aimed at reducing the number of South African universities.

A five-campus university, it has links with more than 250 institutions globally.

With famous beaches lining its long Indian Ocean waterfront, the city of Durban - the second largest city in South Africa - undoubtedly has something of an Asian feel, with much of its music and cuisine Indian-influenced. The Pietermaritzburg campus is the only one that is not located near to the seafront.
