Description

The Division of Science at New York University Abu Dhabi, UAE is inviting applications for a Post-Doctoral Associate position in the areas of Protein Biochemistry and Enzymology. The candidate will work under the supervision of Prof. Wael Rabeh (https://www.rabehlab.com/) on the study of enzymes’ structures and functions in the area of cancer metabolism and viral infectious diseases. Applicants must have a strong background in protein biochemistry including experience in protein expression and purification. The lab is well equipped with state-of-the-art facilities for spectroscopy, thermodynamic and kinetic characterization of proteins’ thermal and chemical unfolding, and mass-spectroscopy for studying protein dynamics.

Applicants must have a Ph.D. in biochemistry or a related field of study. Only shortlisted candidates will be contacted for an interview. Experience in mass spectroscopy or enzymology is desirable. Priority given to candidates with a background in the following areas of expertise:

Protein expression and purification (essential): The candidate must have prior hands-on experience in protein expression in E. coli or other cell lines and purification using affinity and size exclusion chromatography. Experience using FPLC in protein purification is a plus.

Experience in any of the following areas is a plus:


	Enzymology: mechanistic characterization of enzymes using initial velocity and enzyme inhibition kinetics.
	Hydrogen/deuterium exchange (HDX) mass spectrometry (MS) application in the study of enzyme dynamics and protein structural characterization.
	Spectroscopy including UV-Vis, fluorescence and circular dichroism spectroscopy.
	Calorimetry including differential scanning calorimetry (DSC) and isothermal titration calorimetry (ITC).


The appointment is for a one-year, renewable term, starting on August 1st, 2024. The employment terms are competitive and include a tax-free salary plus housing and educational subsidies and health and dental insurance for the Postdoctoral Associate and their dependents. In addition, the candidate will receive travel and transportation allowances and retirement benefits. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled. About the Role

Flinders University is seeking an Indigenous Community Partnerships and Pathways Coordinator to join their team within the Office of Indigenous Strategy and Engagement.

The Indigenous Community Partnerships and Pathways Coordinator (ICPPC) will work to raise the profile of the University to prospective Indigenous students by facilitating partnerships with Indigenous community organisations, schools and educational programs. The successful candidate will manage a small team of staff, coordinate partnerships with pathways stakeholders, contribute to the development of an Indigenous Recruitment Strategy, and develop an annual calendar of recruitment activities and events that promote access to Flinders University pathways.

The successful candidate will also:


	Act as a key liaison point and subject matter expert regarding pathways into Flinders University including the Indigenous Admission Scheme, scholarship and accommodation.
	Foster sustainable relationships with an extensive network of internal and external stakeholders.
	Evaluate and analyse key statistics on applications and enrolments of students in order to provide input into recruitment strategies and activities.

The University of Southampton is inviting applications for a Research Fellow/ Senior Research Assistant in the area of homelessness and psychology. The successful candidate will join the Centre for Homelessness Research and Practice, located in the School of Psychology.

The Centre for Homelessness Research and Practice knits together research, education, training, and practice. It hosts a regional community of practice across the South East of England, as well as working with national and international partners. The Centre engages in policy engagement, addressing the complexity of homelessness by considering the interaction of individual and systemic factors. 

The successful applicant will undertake research in evaluating the effectiveness/impact of a large project aiming to increase psychological knowledge and expertise within the homelessness sector under the supervision of the award holder, and contribute administrative tasks related to the setting up of an community of practice subgroup focused on climate change and homelessness, as well as undertaking leadership, management and engagement activities.

The ideal candidate will have a track record in at least one of the following research areas: 

Developing and carrying out service evaluations

Homelessness and marginalised populations

Carrying out administrative tasks associated with specific research funding

Developing a community of practice

Applications for Research Fellow positions will be considered from candidates who are working towards or nearing completion of a relevant PhD qualification. About the team:

The research group Scientific Computing, led by Prof. Siegfried Benkner, focuses on research in programming paradigms, languages, compilers, and software and hardware infrastructures for scientific computing to support users in the process of solving increasingly complex compute- and data-intensive problems in science and engineering on high-end parallel and distributed computing platforms.
The selected candidate will participate in an international and interdisciplinary research project under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Atakan Aral.  The project aims to ensure seamless and reliable monitoring of critical infrastructures (e.g., facilities for water supply and electricity generation) through real-time and distributed processing of IoT sensor data. The project team will include doctoral and master’s students in our group, as well as international partners from the University of Sheffield, UK, and University College Dublin, Ireland.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research and administration, which means:


	You develop an independent research profile in the field of distributed systems.
	You get involved in the research and management of the EU project mentioned above.
	You supervise the research conducted by master’s and doctoral students.

	You have completed doctoral/PhD studies in Computer Science or a closely related field, or you expect to complete them by 31.12.2024.
