The University of Fortaleza is located in the coastal city of Fortaleza where it is sunny throughout the year.
It is one of the top universities for education and science programmes in Brazil. The majority of programmes are taught in Portuguese but a few courses are taught in English. Most of these are in the business faculty and they may vary from semester to semester.
International students may choose a mix of English and Portuguese courses and can also take Portuguese courses as a foreign language.
The campus stretches over 72 hectares and has auditoriums, a library, theatre, audio-video rooms, laboratories, sports park, a health centre, cultural space, student centre, legal practice office and research centres.
The student centre is where students can go to meet friends, and get something to eat. It has a food court, shops, a printing press, travel agency, bank, pharmacy, book shop and audio-visual projection room.
The cultural space contains works of art from Miro, Rembrandt, Rubens and other major artists. The sports park has a 5,000m² sports complex with a pool, beach volley ball court, tennis court, football field and a track and field stadium. There is also a gym where students can partake in weight lifting, gymnastics, swimming, water gymnastics and physical assessments.
For students that wish to take part in the arts there are music classes, choirs, theatre troupes and a dance company that they can join.
The university has developed a number of social projects such as Young Volunteers, Retail Agents, Center of Professional Training, Education and Health in the Discovery of Learning and Capacity Building for the Disabled that students can get involved in.
Students can also partake in an academic exchange programme at many universities around the world.
