The Universidade Federal do Triangulo Mineiro, or UFTM’s main campus is located in the city of Uberaba, in the Minas Gerais area of Brazil. There is another campus in the city of Iturama. It was founded in 1953 and gained university status in 2005.
The university offers undergraduate and postgraduate courses, as well as vocational qualifications. There are six main academic units: biological and natural sciences; exact, natural sciences and education; health sciences; technological and exact sciences; education, arts, humanities and social sciences; and the professional education centre. Across these academic units, students can choose to study courses including chemical engineering, linguistics, medicine, social work, food engineering, agronomy, and physical education.
For those wishing to pursue technical courses, the university offers a range of options to achieve technician qualifications in clinical analysis, nursing, pharmacy, computing, radiology, oral health, and occupational safety.
The university has a strong focus on healthcare and has links with renowned hospitals in Uberaba, such as the Hospital de Clinicas. Paleontology is another focus of the university’s, and the Museum of Dinosaurs and excavation sites drive research for the university’s Cultural and Scientific Complex of Periopolis.
