About the Role

Working on site in Adelaide, South Australia, this full-time role will work within UniSA Online to support the development and delivery of curriculum for the online Bachelor of Psychology program.

This is an exciting opportunity for an individual with expertise and passion in teaching psychology, which will include contributing to the design, development and teaching of engaging course curricula and materials for the program. The role will include implementing teaching approaches that maximise the student experience and learning outcomes and will also contribute to the recruitment and development of online tutoring staff within UniSA Online.

We are currently recruiting for an Online Lecturer to teach first, second and third-year courses into the Bachelor of Psychology degree program. We are looking for candidates to have expertise in teaching statistics and research methodologies as well as in a range of discipline specific courses in psychology. In addition, candidates will have experiences in managing diverse student cohorts along with competing demands.    

The Bachelor of Psychology is accredited by the Australian Psychology Accreditation Council (APAC) and as a result, applicants must fulfil APAC teaching requirements.

Critical to the success of the role will be establishing strong partnerships with stakeholders across the University to ensure that UniSA Online identifies and responds to strategic opportunities, and effectively leading and mentoring academic staff within the teaching team.

* This role does not have the capacity to work remotely, the successful candidate must reside in Adelaide, South Australia.
* This position, internally titled Online Course Facilitator, is advertised as Online Lecturer for broader industry recognition and alignment.

	Doctoral qualification in Psychology 
	Evidence of recent teaching experience and discipline knowledge within a relevant field 
	Demonstrated passion for and proficiency in undertaking teaching duties including the design and preparation of online teaching activities and resources

About the position

La Trobe University’s Department of Politics, Media and Philosophy seeks to appoint an outstanding academic to a fixed term full-time (1.0 FTE) position as Lecturer in Politics and International Relations. This role encompasses teaching, research and academic service.

The successful applicant will contribute to excellence in teaching and learning across our Politics and International Relations program, including teaching core and elective subjects in the Bachelor of Global Studies, Master of International Relations, and Bachelor of Arts (Politics major). They will also contribute to supervision of Honours students and perform administrative tasks associated with their appointment.

Duties at this level will include: 


	Preparation and delivery of lectures, tutorials and seminars in online, face-to-face or hybrid modes.
	Subject coordination including the supervision of tutors and maintenance of LMS sites.
	Marking and provision of constructive, fair and timely feedback on learning to students.
	Supervision of Honours candidates.
	Publication of high-quality research in leading peer-reviewed journals and publishers.


Skills and knowledge required for this position: 


	A completed PhD in Politics, International Relations or a cognate field.
	Demonstrated excellence in teaching, subject design and curriculum development in face-to-face, blended and/or online modes, based on disciplinary expertise in Politics or International Relations.
	Demonstrated capacity to teach across a range of areas within the disciplines of Politics and International Relations.
	Evidence of high quality and/or high impact research conducted and published or otherwise disseminated, relative to opportunity.

About the team:

The research group Scientific Computing, led by Prof. Siegfried Benkner, focuses on research in programming paradigms, languages, compilers, and software and hardware infrastructures for scientific computing to support users in the process of solving increasingly complex compute- and data-intensive problems in science and engineering on high-end parallel and distributed computing platforms.
The selected candidate will participate in an international and interdisciplinary research project under the supervision of Asst. Prof. Atakan Aral.  The project aims to ensure seamless and reliable monitoring of critical infrastructures (e.g., facilities for water supply and electricity generation) through real-time and distributed processing of IoT sensor data. The project team will include doctoral and master’s students in our group, as well as international partners from the University of Sheffield, UK, and University College Dublin, Ireland.

Your future tasks:

Active participation in research and administration, which means:


	You develop an independent research profile in the field of distributed systems.
	You get involved in the research and management of the EU project mentioned above.
	You supervise the research conducted by master’s and doctoral students.
	You engage with colleagues from adjacent fields and collaborate on interdisciplinary research.
	You publish internationally and give lectures.
	You apply for projects and raise third-party funds.


This is a purely research-oriented position with no teaching duties, unless the candidate specifically requests them, in which case additional compensation will be provided.

These are your qualifications:


	You have completed doctoral/PhD studies in Computer Science or a closely related field, or you expect to complete them by 31.12.2024.
	You have established experience in distributed systems, ideally in the areas of the Internet of Things, Edge/Cloud Computing, Edge AI/Federated Learning, or Sensor Networks, with a focus on resource management, latency/performance optimization, fault tolerance, scalability, or energy efficiency/sustainability.
	You have research competence and initiative proven through international publications in reputable conferences and journals.

	You are experienced in research management and leading project staff.

	Free boundary problems in fluid systems.
	Stability/Instability of coherent structures in 2D/3D flows.
	Stability/Instability in geophysical fluids and plasma physics.
	Spectral theory for non-self-adjoint operators.


Candidates must hold a Ph.D. in Mathematics and Applied Mathematics (or be close to completing one).
