Universidad Iberoamericana, popularly referred to as UNIBE, is a private nonprofit coeducational university located in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.
The university was founded in 1982. UNIBE offers wide range of graduate and undergraduate courses in different disciplines ranging from medicine and engineering to liberal arts, architecture and marketing.
Universidad Iberoamericana has a well-built campus and hosts several facilities like library, gymnasium, food courts, banks and stores. The main building of the campus is the former home of Dominican intellectual Manuel Arturo Peña Battle.
UNIBE hosts several student organisations and special interest groups. The university also has an Entrepreneurship and Innovation Centre. Several extra-curricular activities, sports events and cultural festivals are organised every year.
The university has several centres of research excellence like the Institute for Tropical Medicine and Global Health, the Center for Biomaterials and Dentistry Research, the Neurocognition and Psychophysiology Laboratory, the Green Roofs Laboratory, the Center for Behavioral Intervention Studies, and Ethics Committee (IRB). It has forged research partnership with leading organisations and organised workshops to boost the research skills of its students and faculty.
