The United International University is located in Dhaka, Bangladesh. It was founded in 2003, after approval by the government of Bangladesh and the University Grants Commission. United Group, a Bangladeshi business organisation, financially supports the university.
Boasting the largest green campus inside Dhaka city, the university offers students an escape from the hustle and bustle of Bangladesh’s capital. But for those who are keen to experience what Dhaka has to offer, there are a number of bus services available to major locations in the city.
The university is committed to the socio-economic development of the country through research projects that produce more advanced knowledge. The university has already been successful in this mission as around 90 per cent of solar energy projects in Bangladesh were designed by the university’s Center for Energy Research.
Academically, the university is comprised of two schools and a variety of institutes offering a range of undergraduate, graduate and certificate programs. The university’s two schools are business and economics, and science and engineering.
Away from the classroom, students are encouraged to get involved in co-curricular activities. These are often organised by the Directorate of Student Affairs, which is responsible for overseeing the numerous students clubs that the university has to offer. These include debate club, business club, theatre and film club, and sports club.
It hopes to become the centre of excellence for education and research in the South Asian area.
