Tiangong University (TGU), based in Tianjin, China, has roots dating back to 1912. It’s had many name changes over the years, but the current name was adopted in 2019.
At TGU, students can gain both undergraduate and postgraduate degrees within a wide variety of faculties, including: textiles science and engineering, electrical engineering and automation, environmental and chemical engineering, computer science and technology, economics, law and management.
These schools offer 60 different undergraduate programmes, 78 master’s degree programmes and 16 doctoral degree programmes.
The university currently has 14 colleges on two campuses in the city. The old campus is located in the Hedong District, and the new 460-acre campus is in the scenic spot of Xiqing District.
There are plenty of different sports teams for students to get involved with including: swimming, track and field and aerobics. There’s a large gymnasium seating 5,000 and a swimming pool on site, which houses various competitions annually.
National troupes including the Central Philharmonic Boys’ Chorus, Tianjin Youth Peking Opera Theatre, Tianjin Friendship Envoy Art Troupe, and the Central National Orchestra, often come to TU perform for students and faculty.
TGU has established relationships with more than 97 universities in 34 countries, carrying out various exchange activities such as academic exchanges, scientific research cooperation and the opportunity for students to study abroad. The university is home to 2,000 international students annually.
Many courses are taught in English, including textile engineering, computer science and technology and business administration.
