About You

The Lecturer is expected to contribute to the teaching and research efforts of the School, aligned with the Pharmaceutical Sciences discipline. More specifically, you are responsible for carrying out teaching activities within undergraduate and Honours degree programs and for maintaining and advancing your scholarly, research and/or professional capabilities. You will also be expected to actively promote the program by establishing and maintaining memberships, links and partnerships with academic, industry and professional communities. You will be expected to work collaboratively and collegially with fellow academics within the teaching team. You may also be responsible for course coordination.

To be successful in this position, you'll have as a minimum:


	Demonstrated ability to prepare, deliver and assess Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences courses
	Demonstrated knowledge of Pharmacology and Pharmaceutical Sciences, with specialist knowledge in pharmacological principles and therapeutic pharmacology
	Ability to undertake course coordination role
	Demonstrated capacity to work effectively with and to negotiate sensitively with students especially on issues related to effective learning
	Emerging track record and recognition for quality research outputs which will contribute to existing Discipline and School research areas
	Ability to build productive networks with colleagues and work effectively both independently and as part of a team
	Excellent interpersonal and communications skills appropriate for interacting with students, staff and industry, together with a strong commitment to teamwork and multidisciplinary collaboration


Qualifications

Mandatory: PhD or equivalent in a field relevant to Pharmaceutical Sciences.

Description

The Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to work on advanced membrane technology for desalination and water treatment, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering.

The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functional membrane materials, including nanostructured polymer and ceramic membranes tailored to microfiltration, ultrafiltration, membrane distillation, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. The candidate will employ advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, TEM, DSC, TGA, BET, etc.) to establish fabrication-structure-property-performance relationships in novel materials for sustainable desalination and water treatment. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and engineers, graduate students and undergraduate students.

The successful applicant will manage projects, build deep technical knowledge and develop transferable solutions. He/she will participate in developing novel concepts and writing proposals. He/she will work towards solving complex problems with efficiency and creativity. He/she will be involved in writing reports, authoring publications, drafting patents and presenting results at conferences. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of materials science and engineering, membrane fabrication techniques, membrane characterization tools and separation processes. He/she will be detail-oriented, well-organized and will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Applicants must have a PhD in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering or related field. Excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project (in particular membrane fabrication and characterization) are required. Candidates with demonstrated history of peer reviewed publications in a related area, along with prior expertise in materials science and analytical chemistry will be preferred.

This position will begin in January 2025 as a two-year contract, renewable depending on performance. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. 	Evidence of contributing to teaching and the scholarship of teaching at the discipline level, including involvement in curriculum development and teaching methodology
	Experience applying innovative approaches to pedagogy and/or curriculum design
	Excellent oral and written communication skills and interpersonal skills, including the ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with staff and students
	Demonstrated experience in communicating with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, key stakeholders, and their representatives to achieve positive outcomes
	Familiarity with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health issues and an understanding of the social determinants of health as they impact Indigenous Australians
	Identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person and is recognised as such by an appropriate Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander body, preferably with experience of Katherine Big Rivers Region Indigenous cultures.


Level B (Lecturer)

About You

To be successful in this role you will exhibit:


	Completion of a PhD OR community cultural recognition plus completion or near completion of a postgraduate degree or substantive experience in some branch of Indigenous studies/education
	Successful and independent innovation in learning and teaching delivery or design, including use of e-learning technologies, in the areas of Indigenous health issues, cultural safety, primary health care and population health.
	Demonstrated contribution to academic quality assurance processes, such as topic or course reviews
	Experience or capability to engage with students (and deliver teaching modules) via online learning platforms, related to Central Australian Indigenous knowledges and cultural practices
	Established relationships with Indigenous communities, groups and organisations within Central Australia, including the ability to lead community consultation
	Experience with engagement within a relevant external professional domain and within a wider community context at local or national level which could include working parties, committees, professional associations and conferenced workshops.

About the opportunity

The University's Governance Office (UGO) is in an exciting period of development, striving to deliver a contemporary and integrated service offering aligned with the University's strategic objectives. As a result, we are seeking an experienced Business Program Manager to provide overall management of the Privacy Resilience Program (PRP). This is a high-profile remediation program which is aimed at reducing the University's significant risk exposure in relation to management of sensitive personal information.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the Manager, Privacy, and to play a strategic role overseeing and directing the program of work. Leading a team of program specialists, you will work with senior representatives of impacted areas to ensure appropriate focus and buy-in towards addressing risks within their area, in relation to privacy and data collection practices.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	work with the business owner to manage the overall approach and work plans to ensure achievement of the program outcomes
	ensure senior leaders have a strong understanding of their compliance obligations in relation to data collection and privacy matters, within their respective work areas
	collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders across the various portfolios, faculties and schools and research centres, to provide recommendations and support towards implementation activities within their local areas
	manage the overall program financials, resources, prioritisation, organisation and implementation
	ensure that ICT project activities are aligned with the business activities and manage any conflicts or disconnects
	manage the development of communications and promotes the program of work across the University
	partner closely with the Privacy team to manage reporting through to governance committees including the Steering Committee, University Executive (UE), and the Performance and Risk Committee (PARC), including attending meetings as required
	encourage and promote good privacy practices and supports management and mitigation of University-wide risks.


Please note: there is opportunity for the successful candidate to discuss the most appropriate scheduling of the weekly working hours, to suit the requirements of the role, under this 0.5 FTE arrangement.

About you


	experience in the program management of governance activities and frameworks in relation to privacy, confidentiality and data collection
	high degree of comfort working within a complex and multifaceted organisation (tertiary sector is advantageous)
	demonstrated experience in complex program management involving intersecting legal, policy and business practice considerations
	sophisticated influencing skills, and the ability to provide relevant and strategically aligned advice to senior stakeholders
	proven track record in the successful leadership and management of a high performing team of project professionals
	excellent program management and planning skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies
	capability in managing high volumes, competing priorities and a variety of responsibilities and stakeholders.
