San Beda University is a private Roman Catholic University run by Benedictine monks.
The university was originally founded in 1901 as El Colegio de San Beda. In 1906 the college became affiliated with the University of Santo Tomas and in 1918 it was renamed San Beda College. It wasn’t until 100 years later that the college achieved full university status and became San Beda University.
The university is located in Manila, the capital and second most populous city of the Philippines. .
There are five colleges within the university: college of arts and sciences, college of nursing, college of law, college of medicine, and the MVP college of computing studies. Each college offers a number of different undergraduate degree programmes.
There are also three graduate schools based at the university: graduate school of business, graduate school of law, and the graduate school of liturgy. These schools offer a range of degree programmes at both master’s and doctoral level.
The Linkages and International Affairs Office aims to facilitate local and global educational cooperation. The office has developed a number of partnerships with higher education institutions around the world such as the American International University in Bangladesh and the College of New Celedonia in Canada.
The university is also a member of several international networks including the Regional Network on Poverty Eradication, the Association of Southeast and East Asian Catholic Colleges and Universities, and the World Council for Curriculum and Instruction.
