Founded in 1931, the Samarkand Institute of Economics and Service is one of the only higher education institutions in Uzbekistan that prepares students for the service sector.
The institute is situated in the ancient city of Samarkand in southeastern Uzbekistan.
There are four faculties at the institute: the Faculty of Economics, Faculty of Accounting and Management, Faculty of Service, and the Faculty of Banking and Financial Services. Within these faculties are 19 departments, each offering a range of degree programmes at bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral level.
The institute places a strong emphasis on experiential learning opportunities. Through internships, industry projects, and study abroad programmes, students are given the opportunity to gain valuable hands-on experience and develop real-world skills.
Beyond academics, the institute encourages students to participate in its variety of extracurricular activities. There is an array of student clubs, sports competitions, and cultural events on offer for students to get involved in.
The institute is committed to establishing partnerships with other higher education institutions across the globe in order to facilitate academic and scientific exchanges. Some of these partnerships include the University of Granada in Spain, the Baltic International Academy in Latvia, and the International Institute of Hotel Management in India.
