Basic information and contact details for Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey

institution

Rutgers Business School is the business school of Rutgers University, eighth of the nine US academic institutions classified as "Colonial Colleges" as they were chartered in the Thirteen Colonies before the United States of America became a sovereign nation after the American Revolution.

It was founded in 1929, affiliated to the University of Newark as the School of Business Administration in 1934 and merged into Rutgers in 1946, offering its first MBA in 1950. It is located in two modern buildings, with undergraduate provision concentrated at Washington Park in Newark, a 20 minute journey from downtown Manhattan, and other courses at the 100 Rock building completed in 2013 in the township of Livingston.

The Newark campus is consistently ranked among the most diverse in the United States, and 37 per cent of RBS students are the first in their families to go to university.

RBS initiatives include the "Road to Wall Street" internship programme with leading financial sector employers, research and courses tailored to New Jersey’s pharmacy industry and the Centre for Urban Entrepreneurship and Economic Development which reckons to have worked with 400 minority entrepreneurs in its first decade, starting in 2008, and aims to reach 1,000 in the next 10 years.

RBS students won the $1 million Hult Prize for social entrepreneurship, sometimes called the "Nobel for Students", in 2017 with Roshni Rides, a ride-sharing system devised for Pakistan.
