About the Role  

As the Lecturer in Primary Science and Mathematics Education, you are responsible for the development, coordination and delivery of courses within UniSA Education Futures undergraduate and postgraduate programs. You will contribute to research and scholarly activity, independently and as a member of the team, resulting in quality publications in both academic refereed and professional journals.

Essential Skills and Experience  


	PhD qualification in Science and/or Mathematics Education in the primary and/or middle years of schooling 
	Demonstrated ability to undertake a range of teaching duties including the preparation of appropriate teaching materials and resources for Science and/or Mathematics Education in the primary and/or middle years of schooling  
	Demonstrated commitment to establishing a program of research that demonstrates growing publication record, and experience in the preparation of research grant applications and success in attracting research income commensurate with opportunity  
	Demonstrated ability in using a range of contemporary teaching methodologies (including digital techniques) required for effective curriculum delivery

About the opportunity

The University's Governance Office (UGO) is in an exciting period of development, striving to deliver a contemporary and integrated service offering aligned with the University's strategic objectives. As a result, we are seeking an experienced Business Program Manager to provide overall management of the Privacy Resilience Program (PRP). This is a high-profile remediation program which is aimed at reducing the University's significant risk exposure in relation to management of sensitive personal information.
This is a unique opportunity to work closely with the Manager, Privacy, and to play a strategic role overseeing and directing the program of work. Leading a team of program specialists, you will work with senior representatives of impacted areas to ensure appropriate focus and buy-in towards addressing risks within their area, in relation to privacy and data collection practices.

Your key responsibilities will be to:


	work with the business owner to manage the overall approach and work plans to ensure achievement of the program outcomes
	ensure senior leaders have a strong understanding of their compliance obligations in relation to data collection and privacy matters, within their respective work areas
	collaborate with and influence senior stakeholders across the various portfolios, faculties and schools and research centres, to provide recommendations and support towards implementation activities within their local areas
	manage the overall program financials, resources, prioritisation, organisation and implementation
	ensure that ICT project activities are aligned with the business activities and manage any conflicts or disconnects
	manage the development of communications and promotes the program of work across the University
	partner closely with the Privacy team to manage reporting through to governance committees including the Steering Committee, University Executive (UE), and the Performance and Risk Committee (PARC), including attending meetings as required
	encourage and promote good privacy practices and supports management and mitigation of University-wide risks.


Please note: there is opportunity for the successful candidate to discuss the most appropriate scheduling of the weekly working hours, to suit the requirements of the role, under this 0.5 FTE arrangement.

About you


	experience in the program management of governance activities and frameworks in relation to privacy, confidentiality and data collection
	high degree of comfort working within a complex and multifaceted organisation (tertiary sector is advantageous)
	demonstrated experience in complex program management involving intersecting legal, policy and business practice considerations
	sophisticated influencing skills, and the ability to provide relevant and strategically aligned advice to senior stakeholders
	proven track record in the successful leadership and management of a high performing team of project professionals
	excellent program management and planning skills, coupled with a general understanding of the project life cycle, project documentation, project standards and methodologies
	capability in managing high volumes, competing priorities and a variety of responsibilities and stakeholders.

Description

The Division of Engineering, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a postdoctoral associate to work on advanced membrane technology for desalination and water treatment, under the supervision of Professor Nidal Hilal, Director of the Water Research Center and Global Professor of Engineering.

The successful applicant will drive an exciting project on developing functional membrane materials, including nanostructured polymer and ceramic membranes tailored to microfiltration, ultrafiltration, membrane distillation, nanofiltration and reverse osmosis. The candidate will employ advanced membrane fabrication techniques and characterization tools (SEM, TEM, DSC, TGA, BET, etc.) to establish fabrication-structure-property-performance relationships in novel materials for sustainable desalination and water treatment. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists and engineers, graduate students and undergraduate students.

The successful applicant will manage projects, build deep technical knowledge and develop transferable solutions. He/she will participate in developing novel concepts and writing proposals. He/she will work towards solving complex problems with efficiency and creativity. He/she will be involved in writing reports, authoring publications, drafting patents and presenting results at conferences. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated knowledge of materials science and engineering, membrane fabrication techniques, membrane characterization tools and separation processes. He/she will be detail-oriented, well-organized and will possess excellent verbal and written communication skills. The successful candidate should be able to work independently and as part of a team.

Applicants must have a PhD in materials science and engineering, chemical engineering or related field. Excellent experimental and analytical skills relevant to the project (in particular membrane fabrication and characterization) are required. Candidates with demonstrated history of peer reviewed publications in a related area, along with prior expertise in materials science and analytical chemistry will be preferred.

This position will begin in January 2025 as a two-year contract, renewable depending on performance. The terms of employment are very competitive and include housing and educational subsidies for children. We are seeking to recruit a qualified Counsellor, Psychotherapist or Counselling Psychologist (BACP, UKCP or BPS registered, or eligible for such) to join our established multidisciplinary team working with students with wide ranging and sometimes complex issues. The role is offered on a part time, 3-day-a-week basis, for a 0.6 Full time Equivalent.

About 70% of our sessions are ‘One at a Time’, and we also support students with brief counselling contracts, and sometimes over the longer term, both face to face and via video. Some counsellors also offer phone, email and IM counselling, but this is optional.

University of Surrey

Applications are invited for a Research Fellow to join Dr Lindsay Broadbent’s group in the Section of Virology, School of Biosciences, University of Surrey.

The role

This is an exciting opportunity to become part of a collaborative translational research project exploring the association of respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection and the development of childhood asthma. The successful candidate will use complex respiratory epithelial cell models grown and differentiated at air-liquid interface to explore virus-host interactions and subsequent innate immune responses and signalling pathways.

We are therefore looking for a highly motivated individual with or about to obtain a PhD in a biological science related subject, and proven ability in cell biology and virus research. A background in culturing primary cells and/or organoid systems, virology, innate immunology and transcriptomics would also be highly beneficial.

Our well-equipped laboratory is located in the School of Biosciences at the beautiful campus of the University of Surrey, close to London. The dynamic and growing Section of Virology is comprised of five research groups focused on the molecular and cellular basis of disease caused by a range of important human and animal pathogens including herpesviruses, poxviruses, SARS-CoV2, RSV and arboviruses.
