Osun State University was established in 2006 as a multi-campus university in the Nigerian state of Osun. The university’s main campus is located in Osogbo.
The university offers a wide range of courses from an undergraduate to postgraduate level, including a bachelor’s degree, postgraduate diplomas, master’s degree, and doctor of philosophy. There are seven colleges at the university which include: agriculture, education, health sciences, humanities and culture, law, management and social sciences, and science, engineering and technology.
All prospective students must pass an English Language course before admission, and earn an acceptable score in the matriculation examination. The university also carries out an aptitude test for all students before admission.
Across campus there’s lots for students to get involved with from sports to innovation. The university’s sports unit organises competitions across departments and faculties, and other colleges and universities in a range of sports such as soccer, table tennis, and athletics. Gaining a strong reputation in Nigerian sports, the university won six medals at the 2011 NUGA games held at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka. For students who are involved in developing theoretical and research skills in sport and exercise, they can choose to study sporting courses from sports management to sports journalism.
Osun State University encourages students to develop their research and innovation skills during their degree and hosts regular workshops, research projects, and conferences to foster research improvements.
